Story
Company began operations in the early 1950s. The company went public in 1981. After an initial public offering on NASDAQ, the company first released many new technologies in a few years. In January 1991, ten years after the initial public offering, IGT was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The following year, IGT Europe was created to serve casinos across the continent. In 1994, international expansion continued with the opening of new sales and service offices in Argentina and South Africa.
Later in 1996, the progressive Wheel of Fortune slot was created. This game continues to be one of the most popular slot machines of all time. Two key acquisitions were made in 1998. These included Barcrest Gaming, located in the UK, and Sodak Gaming, IGT’s gaming distributor for the US market.
Since 2010, a division of IGT Interactive has been operating, which produces products for online casinos and their mobile versions. The head office of IGT Interactive is located in San Francisco, USA.
